IQUW bolsters Energy lead capabilities with senior hires

We are delighted to announce a trio of appointments to our Energy team, adding depth to our underwriting, claims and engineering proposition to brokers and insureds.

Chris Touhey joins IQUW as Senior Underwriter, Energy, alongside Darren Stewart as Head of Marine, Energy, and Aviation Claims and Darryl Krobel as MEA Engineer – providing brokers and clients with access to a market leading team, focussing on Upstream and Mid-Stream business in relation to exploration, production, and all relevant operating risks.  

Touhey brings 25 years of London market and Lloyd’s expertise and has significant lead Energy underwriting experience. Before joining IQUW in January 2025, Touhey held roles at Liberty Specialty Markets for over 15 years, most recently as the Head of Offshore Energy and underwriting roles at Markel and Brit.

Krobel, who joined IQUW in December 2024, has 20 years’ experience in reservoir, exploration and petroleum engineering in the oil and gas industry, including UK-based roles at Octavia Energy and chemical manufacturing firm Sasol.

Touhey and Krobel are based in London, reporting to David Message, Lead Underwriter, Energy, and working alongside Teniola Tijani and Chris Jones.

Stewart joined IQUW in November 2024, having previously worked at Hiscox and Canopius Group where he served as Deputy Head of Short tail Claims – Energy, Marine & Engineering. Stewart is based in London and reports to Gavin Williams, Head of Claims.
